Sylvia Hampton is an experienced fundraiser and grant writer that has led a really fascinating journey through the world of non-profit organizations. Her passion and expertise in fundraising for causes she believes in makes her a very powerful ally for any organization that is aiming to mobilize their mission and get fuel on the fire of growth. We’re very excited that she brings this level of experience to Live Wingman, enabling you to learn some of the secret sauce that has made her so successful.
When you work with her on Live Wingman, you’ll be able to take all the experience and use it in your own context. Whether you’re a for-profit or non-profit organization, you have to be able to sell your mission and convince people to back you. That’s how you make an impact and Sylvia can help with that. Her unique combination of operational and sociological skills make her a force to be reckoned with, and you can now get access to that magic!
Her academic background started in Education, but she then upskilled herself in terms of business management by completing a Masters degree through the Lesley University School of Management. Post her studies, her talent in terms of management was spotted early and she moved quickly into leadership positions at the Xavier University College of Pharmacy and the Northeastern School of Law respectively. In these positions, she helped specifically with development and public relations, helping these teams improve their standing in their respective local environments.
However, it wasn’t until she moved into the non-profit world proper that she really began to hit her stride. She spent some time as the Chief Fundraising Officer for the Franciscan Children’s Hospital & Rehabilitation Center, the VP of Development at The Better Homes Fund, before taking on the ambitious Senior Gifts Officer role at the Harvard Divinity School. It was here where she sharpened her skills and really came into her own with her ability to fundraise for a wide variety of use cases.
Today, she serves as a Fundraising and Grant Writing consultant for Hampton Bates public relations, helping non-profit and academic institutions access the funding they so desperately need. When it comes to putting together compelling business cases and getting fundraising deals over the line, you won’t find many better than Sylvia. Her ability to build networks, maneuver through budgets, and persuade investors to take the leap put her in a league of her own.
